The mission
Joining an early-stage start-up, I was tasked with creating the very first UX and UI for their storefront platform. The mission was to design a modular e-commerce template system that could scale across different brands, while delivering a smooth and intuitive shopping experience from day one.
The process
A collaborative design process where clarity and usability guided every step
01
Understand the challenge and the goals
With no existing UX or UI in place, the challenge was to balance business needs like speed to market and scalability with user needs like clarity, trust and seamless navigation. Together with PMs I defined the core flows needed for any storefront including homepage, product listing, product detail and checkout.
02
Design from the ground up
I built the first design system with modular components and brandable templates. This ensured consistency while allowing each storefront to feel unique. The system was structured around e-commerce best practices, making it both intuitive for users and scalable for the business.
03
Prototype and validate flows
I mapped and prototyped user journeys from landing to purchase confirmation, validating that the experience felt effortless and intuitive. Early feedback confirmed that even non-designers could imagine adapting the templates to their brand.
04
Delivery and handoff
I documented the system in Figma with clear usage guidelines, making handoff smooth for developers and future team members. This gave the start-up a scalable foundation that could evolve as the business grew.
