The mission

In this project, the focus was on accessibility and consistency. Together with the client, we developed a new design system to ensure the platform followed WCAG standards, supported diverse user needs, and created a more efficient workflow for both designers and developers.

The process

A design journey built on clarity, usability and collaboration

01

Define goals and needs

We mapped out key challenges: lack of consistency, limited accessibility, and a design that was difficult to maintain. The business goal was to ensure WCAG compliance and reduce friction for teachers, students, and guardians using the platform.

02

Design foundations

We defined brand colors, typography, grids, spacing, and shadows with accessibility in mind. Every choice was tested against WCAG AA standards to ensure sufficient contrast and readability across devices.

03

Components and patterns

Reusable components such as input fields, dropdowns, and headers were built to support a consistent user experience. Rules for spacing and padding were documented to make the design predictable and easy to implement.

04

Delivery and implementation

Annotated design files were handed over to developers with clear guidelines for accessibility, spacing, and behavior. This reduced questions during implementation and ensured consistency across the platform.

The result

The design system created a scalable foundation that not only improved accessibility but also made the design process faster and easier to maintain. By focusing on WCAG compliance, the platform became more inclusive and user-friendly for everyone, and resulted in a platform that successfully met WCAG AA standards.
